Depression isn't the enemy—stagnation is
00:00alright so what if I told you that depression or feeling lazy or feeling like you're stuck isn't something you necessarily have to fight but it's rather something that you can outrun with a very very simple solution and the way you outrun it is with a goal that consumes you and you might say to yourself okay Daniel that's great a goal that consumes me but I don't have a goal that consumes me so what we're gonna be doing in this video is it's gonna be very quick but it's gonna be a video that shows you basically how to find a goal that or at least look start looking for that goal
00:28or that purpose that completely consumes you so that you can actually continue with your life so that you can
Why goals that consume you are the key
00:33actually work on something that excites you every single day so depression can't keep up with someone that is you know pulled by purpose and you need a goal that wakes you up and not necessarily an alarm clock so you need a goal that's big enough that basically it allows you to it gets you so excited that you can't fall asleep you can't not get out of bed because this goal is pulling you towards it so the way we do that it has to it has to first off it has to feel personal like it has to feel like your future depends on it because to some degree it kind of does
01:07so it has to be personal and ask yourself what would you chase even if no one was watching like what kind of goal what would you go after what would you work on even if no one was watching if you could just remove anything everything from your life what people are saying what people think you should be doing what you think you should be doing and just think about the the thing that you would do even if nobody was watching what would it be and then you need to just add some deadlines to it like some kind of an urgency around it so that you actually or some kind of public accountability
01:43uh that will actually push you to do it
How to identify a truly personal goal
01:45now an easy way you might be saying to yourself like how do I how do I actually do this so there's a very simple three step process that you can use to uncover a goal that matters to you a purpose that matters to you so the first thing you could do is audit your inputs and what I mean by that is look at the YouTube videos look at the podcast look at the books you consume what kind of themes are repeating what are you watching what are you actually consuming what's interesting to you so that's one thing you need to look at is just what are you actually interested in
02:19what are your inputs and then once you've done that once you found out and looked through that and found your interest and looked through basically what what kind of what kind of content you're you're going through and once you start tracking your attention then you can go to the next step which is basically follow your frustration so in just by looking at your life there most likely is a problem that you constantly complain about or you feel drawn to fix or you have fixed in your own life that you want that
The 3-step process to discover purpose
02:55that you can't stop yourself from sharing uh with other people so that they can fix it in their own lives so pain points especially in your life pain points that exist and pain points that you have already solved often leads to often lead to some kind of a purpose so frustration often leads to fuel and that fuel you can use for something that you actually wanna do so that's another way to to find something that you actually wanna get done and some kind of goal that you actually wanna go after now the final thing is to write a personal mission so if you know anything about business
03:33having a mission statement is one of the most important things other than having a vision statement a mission statement is basically what you want to do in one sentence you need to define what you want to fix what you want to build what you want to become and most importantly why because if you don't have enough a strong enough why you're not gonna actually complete this mission and the most important thing about why is most of the time when we ask ourselves the question why
Track your attention to find what excites you
03:58we will give a very surface level answer we actually won't get to the real why of why we want to focus on this specific problem or on this specific goal because most of the time we we will if if somebody asks you about that goal and why you're actually you know pursuing that goal you would most likely give them a surface level answer as well and we do the same thing to ourselves as well so what you actually need to do and what has helped me in the past to find out my deeper why is to ask yourself the question ask yourself the question why seven times now is there some science behind the seven
04:33not necessarily um is there some specific reason I chose that number not necessarily you can actually do more you can actually do less but you know when you've reached the real why when you start feeling some kind of an emotion
Frustration points are your hidden compass
04:45like for example if we take fitness going to the gym gaining muscle losing fat whatever somebody might have the goal of losing fat right and their why might be their surface level why might be to be healthy and now after they ask themselves the question why seven times they can now ask themselves why do I want to be healthy so then they have an answer for that then they ask themselves the question why once again and again and again until they get to the root motivation which might be to see their daughter's wedding for example to to stay alive to see their little daughter's wedding
05:23now that's why is a huge why that kind of why will will keep you losing weight even when when you don't feel like it because you only need to remind yourself of that why every single day from then on and all of a sudden your life has a purpose so look at again if you've watched my previous video look at the 4 different areas of life health wealth um and self and ask yourself in all of these areas what could you improve what are you what do you want to work most on
Write a mission statement with deep emotional power
05:56and you can actually again go back to the questions we we talked about earlier actually look at your inputs what kind of videos podcast books are you consuming because they can actually they can direct you towards which one of these you find the most uh problems with at at at this point or you have the most pain with at this moment in your life and that can give you a direction of where you should focus your attention so track your attention and then focus it based on your frustration around one of these areas now once you've done that commitment becomes identity so the more you act
06:29the more depression the more that feeling of laziness the more that feeling of no purpose disappears so commitment isn't necessarily a mood it's a daily decision and small consistent actions towards one of these goals will build confidence and confidence crushes that feeling of of despair it crushes that feeling of I don't know what to do with my life because you actually do know now and eventually you're not trying anymore you are the mission so your life becomes the purpose you become the purpose
Action creates identity and confidence
07:02and so once you look at those four areas and you actually sit down and be honest with yourself of what you're lacking in those areas and what you can do about them and how to do it or maybe you realize you don't have enough information to actually change any of those areas so then your purpose becomes finding that information and then acting on it and eventually as I said you're not gonna be trying anymore you become the mission you you become your own purpose in life and that's it that's the best purpose you can have when you realize that you are the purpose
07:31so it's not anybody else you wanna become healthy when we're talking about wealth you want wealth for yourself for a certain reason you know same goes for love and relationships if you notice if you notice that you know you don't have the type of relationships in your life that you actually want then you need to improve them for yourself why to have a better life in general that's the biggest that's the biggest why to make the the time on this planet that you have better and in short and so motion destroys stagnation so don't aim for a perfect goal don't aim for something that immediately hits
08:09sometimes just starting on some goal any goal will keep you moving forward
Don’t aim for perfect—just move
08:14and will remove that feeling of stagnation of depression of not feeling like not feeling like there's much for you in life and stuff like that so don't aim for perfect aim for moving just move in some kind of direction whether that's improving your health whether that's actually working on making more money whether that's actually working on you know finding a significant other or or improving your friend circle which actually means that you need to improve yourself first in order to actually get the type of relationship you want or to get the type of friends you want
08:46and just focus on one task 1 set one whatever a day that's it that's all you have to do just wake up and just do one thing that moves you a bit closer to that initial um
Celebrate small wins to build momentum
09:01goal or frustration uh goal that you have or problem that you're trying to fix or frustration that you're trying to fix and make sure to celebrate progress of course and no matter how small it is so one thing I do every single day in my journal is I type out the wins of the day because your brain will chase that reward of feeling like you've won and there's this thing and there's a book The Winner's Effect I believe it's called that says that the more you win the more you the more you win the more you tend to win but the thing is winning is a feeling that you can that you can create on purpose
09:44because what the book didn't say is that the win have the winds have to be big what the the book said is that winning makes you win more because when you feel like a winner you tend to win more so celebrate progress no matter how small every day write three wins for the day that could have been I went to the gym even though I didn't feel like it that could have been that could be I woke up at 7:00am or I woke up at 6:00am or whatever it could be anything just write down three wins every single day and you'll see how quickly first off your brain will start chasing that reward of
10:16at the end of the day writing those things down and feeling like you're winning but secondly you'll start feeling like a winner you're not not gonna feel like depressed or anything like that anymore and escalate afterwards push harder set bigger goals and make bigger wins but start from something super small like just getting out of bed at like 8:00am for example so remember obsession obsessing over some kind of a goal or chasing some kind of a goal equals emotional armor you can't be crushed by feelings you don't stop to actually feel and you don't stop to feel these feelings
10:53because a lot of the times the feelings that we do have are not helpful at all so when you're obsessed setbacks don't affect you in any way they actually fuel you they give you more energy to continue and you stop reacting emotionally and you start reacting tactically the the mission reframes everything basically even even pain becomes part of the plan even pain becomes part of the the mission even suffering becomes part of the mission so when you go to the gym and you're not feeling like it and you feel like you didn't sleep well and and you're tired that becomes part of the mission
11:26that becomes part of the mission for that specific day is actually still going to the gym still doing the things you need to do because now that's part of the that's part of the whole process that's part of the goal and when you realize that those setbacks are not in any way putting you you know they're not actually setbacks but they're actually pushing you forward then everything changes because the mission has reframed house now the mission reframes how the setbacks feel in your mind so relentlessness doesn't mean burnout we're not talking about you know burning out working crazy and so on
11:56we're talking about having direction and so you need to rest strategically renew your goals after you complete a goal always set a new one because the moment you have no goal set that's when you start feeling like you're stagnating that's when you're gonna start feeling depressed because there's nothing your mind can focus on and so what you need to do is always set new goals and then adapt and evolve always always aim for evolving further that's basically it what can you do today to evolve a step closer to what you actually want because staying locked in on any kind of goal
12:31keeps you alive literally so pick one goal right now the one that scares you and excites you at the same time audit your inputs follow your frustration find out what problems in your life you wanna fix and write out your little mission statement this is what I'm planning on working on for the next 30 days 60 days 90 days and then build a routine around that one goal that you will follow every single day no matter what no matter how you feel and stop thinking about your feelings for a bit and once you do that once you build a routine just take action every day just act act
13:09act on that routine no matter how you feel and if you want help making that your lifestyle then check the link in the description and book a call and let's work with that being said I hope you enjoyed this video I hope it brought a lot of value and I'm gonna see you in the next one
